MU Library's research librarians are available to support you in planning your research curriculum for next semester:

  • provide custom Research Instruction based on your students' needs and the assignment requirements.
  • brainstorm unique approaches to adapting your research assignment to fully take advantage of our freely available (to you and your students) print or online scholarly resources (such as books, journals, online database content, movies, etc.).
  • assist with reviewing your course syllabi to see if any paid resources can be replaced by:
    • Open Educational Resources (OERs)
    • Library Reserves (when your personal copy, or a library copy, gets put on special circulation, able to be checked-out by your students, but only for limited periods of time)
    • Textbook Loan Program (when the copy of a current textbook gets put on special circulation, able to checked-out by anyone, but only for limited periods of time)

If your students need help brainstorming topics, or understanding how certain topics are connected, you may suggest that they try out the Mind Map tool in the Credo Reference database. Students can enter a search term and, for (most) results, the interactive Mind Map will appear, with branches to related topics. When a student clicks on any item, the Mind Map will reorient itself based on that new selection. And because it's located within the Credo platform, all links take your students to reference entry pages, which provide in-depth foundational information for each selected idea/keyword.
