Where's my refund? - The IRS issues more than 9 out of 10 refunds in less than 21 days. However, it’s possible your tax return may require additional review and take longer. The easiest way to check your refund status is by using their automated tools. Where’s My Refund? has the most up to date information available about your refund. The tool is updated no more than once a day (usually overnight) so you don’t need to check more often. You will need to provide your Social Security Number or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, your filing status, and the exact refund amount. You can check the status within 24 hours after the IRS received your e-filed tax return, or 4 weeks after you mailed your paper return. NOTE: Beginning in 2017, if you claim the Earned Income Tax Credit or Additional Child Tax Credit, the IRS must hold your refund until February 15.

You can download the official IRS2Go Mobile App for your mobile device and check your refund status, make a payment, find free tax preparation assistance, sign up for helpful tax tips, and more..
