Individual Income Taxpayer Assistance

A number of services are available toll-free, 24 hours a day on the FACT and Information Line: 1-888-PATAXES. For assistance by telephone for personal income tax questions, call 717-787-8201 between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. Services for taxpayers with special hearing and/or speaking needs are at 1-800-447-3020 (TT Only). You may also contact one of the District Offices. The Pennsylvania Office of Taxpayers’ Rights Advocate provides free and confidential assistance to taxpayers with PA personal income tax concerns not resolved through normal administrative procedures. Refunds

If you filed electronically it takes about four weeks to process a refund. If you filed a paper tax return it takes about 8 to 10 weeks to process a refund. if the department needs to verify information reported on your return or request additional information, the process will take longer. After your refund is processed, it takes 3 to 4 weeks for your overpayment to be mailed or direct deposited.

All returns, regardless of how they are filed, are processed in the order in which they are received. Sometimes, the Department will need to verify information reported on your return by requesting additional information, this will delay the processing of your return.
