Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Marshall: Black Genders

Introduction

Serena WilliamsOn this page, you'll find historical and theoretical examinations of black gendered identities. Much of the page is devoted to the rapidly developing field of black feminist thought, but we've also got sources on black masculinity and non-binary gendered identities. As with this guide's other pages, sources here should get you started, but they are not an exhaustive list. Do a Summon search, using keywords related to your topic (bodies, for instance, or resistance) and you'll get much more.

In fact, you could even search for the person pictured at the left (Serena Williams) and add a word such as embodied, or U.S. Open, and you'll get lots of results. Good Luck!!
