Understanding Plagiarism & AI: Maxwell - CD

Utilizing ChatGPT in Communications Disorders: Enhancing Practice & Research

  • Review this page if you're a student in Dr. Maxwell's CD Spring 2024 course, or, if you're simply curious to review a discipline-specific case study on the professional uses of generative AI.
  • Please note this list was compiled purposely with the use of ChatGPT3.5 (February 2024).

Class Activity

  1. Log in to Open AI's ChatGPT using the account information that you created in the last class.
  2. Brainstorm a need that you have that ChatGPT may be able to help with.
    • This could be specific, like for a learning opportunity, or more hypothetical, like for a future job.
  3. Prompt ChatGPT to provide an example or list of examples for how you might use it to fulfil that need.
    • Or, select an entry from the list below.
  4. From the content that ChatGPT provides, "reply" asking for follow-up information such as details or a specific example or activity, etc.
    • See the section below for a visual of this.
    • Click on the two View Example links (  ) below for how it looks in ChatGPT.

5. Lastly, check Chat GPT's work.

  • Did it miss anything that you would add, and/or that you were expecting to see?
  • Did it surprise you by including crucial or beneficial information?
  • Did it disappoint you by providing outdated information or misinformation?
    • What source or sources did you use to check or cross-reference?
Please note:

In the examples below, the "replies" were created by highlighting any previous text provided by ChatGPT and clicking on the quotation mark that appeared in order to ask a follow-up question about a specific chunk of text.
