Well-Read and Undead Book Club

Drinko Library, at Marshall University, hosts a monthly book club open to all. This guide will provide information about titles, meeting times, and more!

How It Works

I'm so excited that you're interested in our library book club! Here’s what you need to know before deciding to join or attending your first meeting!

WHAT: We normally read one book per month and meet once each month to discuss the content.

WHEN: Meetings are held one Thursday a month at 6PM.

WHERE: We normally meet virtually (MS Teams). Once you have signed up to join the club, you will receive an email with the link to join the meeting each month. If we plan an in-person meeting, you will also be given ample notice.

HOW: Books are selected based on your suggestions. We vote on each book about a month and a half before the discussion to provide time to acquire and read the title. You’ll always have plenty of notice. After each meeting, I send out an email letting everyone know the date of our next meeting. So, if you miss a meeting, don’t worry!

What if you don’t like a book that the group selects? Never feel compelled to finish a book. I try to always include trigger warnings as well (if that info is available), so ideally, you’ll know what’s in a book before you begin. Additionally, some of our best discussions have been ones where no one liked the book. No matter if you've read a page or the whole book, if you don't mind spoilers, you're more than welcome to attend the meeting.

Of course, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I can answer any questions you have or add you to the email list and Teams group.
