PSY 323 - Dr. Billingsley: Journal Impact

Journal Impact Factor

Impact factor is commonly used to evaluate the relative importance of a journal within its field and to measure the frequency with which the “average article” in a journal has been cited in a particular time period. Journal which publishes more review articles will get the highest IFs.

How to find out a Jounal's Impact Factor

There are a few ways that Marshall students can find the impact factor for a journal.

#1 Search in Summon or the MU Journal Search

Note: This way is suggested, because the only other ways that MU has access to, use different metrics than the impact factor.

#2 Use Google Scholar Metrics: https://scholar.google.com/citations?view_op=top_venues&hl=en&vq=soc

#3 Use Scopus: https://www.scopus.com/sources

#4 Use the Dimensions Databases: https://marshall.idm.oclc.org/login?url=https://app.dimensions.ai/discover/publication

#5 Use Scimago Journal & Country Rank: https://www.scimagojr.com/journalrank.php
