Journal Impact Factor
Impact factor is commonly used to evaluate the relative importance of a journal within its field and to measure the frequency with which the “average article” in a journal has been cited in a particular time period. Journal which publishes more review articles will get the highest IFs.
How to find out a Jounal's Impact Factor
There are a few ways that Marshall students can find the impact factor for a journal.
#1 Search in Summon or the MU Journal Search
-
Search for a journal in Summon or the MU Journal Search. In this example, I'm using the journal, "Journal of Experimental Psychology."
-
-
Notice the journal citation report should be available on this page (these pages will look different).
Note: This way is suggested, because the only other ways that MU has access to, use different metrics than the impact factor.
