Research Help for Lawrence Co. Students: Scholarly Resources

Marshall University Libraries

Open Access Resources

Option 1

Go to www.marshall.edu/library. Click on “Summon” on the left-hand side, then click “Summon Advanced Search”. On the Advanced Search Screen, under “limit to,” check the box “Open Access Items Only,” then enter your search terms in the search box.

Option 2

Go to www.marshall.edu/libraryUnder the “Research” tab, click “Search Journals.” Enter the keywords for relevant journals. Look for journals with an orange lock that says, “Open Access.”

Option 3

Go to www.marshall.edu/libraryIn the “Find it fast” box, click on “Marshall Digital Scholar.” You can also access the greater “Digital Commons Network” from here.

Google Scholar

From the Google Scholar page, on the left-hand side, click “Advanced Search”. On Advanced Search Screen, click on “case law” and enter search terms in the search box.

WV Info Depot

WVInfoDepot.org is collection of article databases, WV history information, and career and educational preparation and tutorials provided by the WV Library Commission for all students and residents in WV. 

Kentucky Virtual Library

The Kentucky Virtual Library (KYVL) is a consortium of nearly 300 Kentucky libraries and institutions, including colleges and universities, public libraries, K12 schools, hospitals, Department of Defense libraries, the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives (KDLA), and more.

The three primary services of KYVL include:

  • Databases - core resources accessible to the users of KYVL member libraries.
  • Courier service - facilitating resource sharing among Kentucky's public and academic libraries and KDLA through interlibrary loan.
  • Kentucky Digital Library - a platform for Kentucky libraries and institutions share their digital archives with Kentucky and the world.

KYVL went live in November 1999, and is a program of CPE, the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.
