Basic Library Instruction_FYS_Underhill: Introduction

How a university library is different from other libraries

  • We will not walk around shushing you. Sometimes, the librarians are the loudest people in the building.
  • We don't sit around reading books all the time. In fact, sometimes we write our own!
  • We are here to show you how to use the library's resources, which are very different from the ones you may have used in high school. There's just no way you could know how to use something you've never used before, so we want to make your life easier by showing you how.
  • We are just here to see you succeed, and to help you with any library- or research-related question. That's why there are so many ways to contact us for support on our Ask a Librarian page.

    • Virtual Appointment
  • Although it wasn't shown in the video, you can access the Ask a Librarian page from the library's homepage, which is www.marshall.edu/library, and clicking on Ask a Librarian from the Library Help Menu.
