Welcome to the Kinesiology Research Guide

This online guide is developed specifically for those doing research for studies in the School of Kinesiology with an emphasis on these programs:

  • Exercise Science
  • Athletic Training
  • Physical Education
  • Health Education
  • Sports Medicine
  • Human Motion

Because the School of Kinesiology includes many disciplines such as education, health, psychology, business and sociology, you may need to consult resources in those fields also.

Useful library services

  • EZ Borrow
If you want to borrow a book that MU Libraries do not own, borrow from this group. Most items ship within 3-5 business days and can be borrowed for a 6 week period.
  • Google Scholar
If you are on campus a Google Scholar search will help to identify items fulll text articles that are availalbe through library subsriptions and holdings. On campus and off campus, Google Scholar will greatly expand your search results.
  • IDS/ILL (Information Delivery & Interlibrary Loan)

Request articles and other items that are not available through the MU Libraries. Articles are often delivered within 24 business hours to your desktop.
  • Marshall Digital Scholar (MDS)
Marshall Digital Scholar (MDS) is an Institutional Repository (IR). Institutional Repositories (IRs) bring together all of a University's research under one umbrella, with an aim to preserve and provide access to that research. IRs are an excellent vehicle for working papers or copies of published articles and conference papers. Presentations, senior theses, and other works not published elsewhere can also be published in the IR.

  • MU Catalog
This is the most comprehensive search we offer. Our catalog will search for print, online, and other media such as music, VHS, DVD, micofilm, and microform. Search all locations or only one location.
  • MU Databases

Seach this comprehensive list of all electronic packages that are available to you.
  • MU Journals Search

Locate journals, newspapers, and other serials by searching by title, subject, or package. Searching will show print, online, and microfilm.
  • My Library Account

Monitor items you've checked out, renew items (some exceptions apply), save searches, and build title lists.
