Tax booklets are available at 12 local branch offices of the Maryland Comptroller. Taxpayers may also request a resident or nonresident tax booklet by calling 410-260-7980 from Central Maryland, or 1-800-MD-TAXES (1-800-638-2937) from elsewhere; or by e-mail at taxforms@comp.state.md.us

Individual Income Taxpayer Assistance   You can obtain free Maryland income tax assistance over the phone by contacting Taxpayer Service at 410-260-7980 from Central Maryland, or 1-800-MD-TAXES (1-800-638-2937) from elsewhere; or in person at any of the Taxpayer Service Locations. Assistance is available 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Learn more about free tax preparation services at this page.

Where do I mail my forms?

  • If using the US Postal Service: Comptroller of Maryland, Revenue Administration Division, 110 Carroll Street, Annapolis, MD 21411-0001
  • If using a private delivery service, such as FedEx or UPS: Comptroller of Maryland, Revenue Administration Division, 80 Calvert Street, Annapolis, Maryland 21401   410-260-7980

Refunds: You can check the status of your current year refund online, or by calling the automated line at (410) 260-7701 or 1-800-218-8160. Be sure you have a copy of your return on hand to verify information. You can also e-mail us at taxhelp@comp.state.md.us to check on your refund. Remember to include your name, Social Security number and refund amount in your e-mail request.

Electronically filed tax returns are usually processed the same day that the return is transmitted to the tax office. Paper returns take approximately 30 days to process. Keep in mind that acknowledgment of the receipt of your return takes place when your return has processed and appears in the computer system.
